Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day

On November 14th at 8:30AM, the entire school will take part in a symbolic walk around the school to commemorate Ruby Bridges and the movement she started. Students will learn about her courage and bravery, and engage in conversation about using activism to bring an end to racism and all forms of bullying. The Racial Equity and Social Justice (RESJ) committee has registered PS 889 for this nation-wide event, and provided a book about Ruby Bridges for each classroom. Parents are invited to meet up in the school gymnasium for coffee and conversation after drop-off at 8:10, and then join the students in their walk.
